Prisons

Register your prison for a PAT visit
Pets As Therapy offers a partnership service with prisons across the UK, providing therapeutic sessions where prisoners can interact with a friendly dog and handler.
These sessions are a paid service and are designed to support emotional wellbeing and rehabilitation. If your prison would benefit from this impactful service, click the ‘Request a visit’ button below to get started.

How PAT supports the prison service
Since 2007, we’ve partnered with prisons across the UK to offer therapeutic dog visits - and the impact has been truly heartwarming.
Unlike our public volunteer service, our prison-based service is delivered by prison staff using their own pet dogs. This model allows for more frequent and consistent contact between individuals and companion animals, complementing existing interventions and supporting wellbeing.
Spending time with a friendly dog can be transformative. These sessions often help reduce stress, ease tension and shift perspectives in a positive direction. In prison environments, this can mean lower volatility and a more settled atmosphere - all through the simple joy of human-animal connection.

How to register for a PAT visit
If you work within a prison and want to know more about how PAT can work with you, we are happy to help you explore how four-legged friends can make a meaningful difference in your establishment.
Please register your prison and we will be in touch to discuss this service further and guide you through the next steps.
