A night to remember for Pets As Therapy and Battersea

On Wednesday 4 November, supporters gathered at the Chancery Rosewood in London for ‘An Evening with Alan Cumming’, a charity auction in aid of Pets As Therapy and Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Alan Cumming hosted the evening and the room was full of generous supporters and art lovers, as well as some very familiar faces, including Sir Mick Jagger. Guests bid on a remarkable collection of donated artworks, and many more people supported the cause by bidding in the online auction.

The evening raised a significant sum for both charities. We’ll share the final total once every bid and donation has been counted.

The real stars of the show

Our own volunteers made the evening truly special. Dawn and Kenji, Sandra and Wilson, Karen and Benny, and Marketta and Barker joined guests on the night. They gave everyone in the room a first-hand sense of the comfort and joy that Pets As Therapy teams bring to people in hospitals, care homes, hospices and schools across the UK. Thank you all for giving up your evening, and for representing Pets As Therapy so wonderfully.

“It was a privilege to share this evening with Battersea and so many generous supporters. Seeing our volunteers and their animals in the room was a reminder of what this is all about: the simple, powerful difference an animal can make to someone’s day. Every pound raised will help us bring that comfort to more people who need it.” Steven Wibberley, Chief Executive, Pets As Therapy

Thank you

The evening would not have happened without the vision and hard work of the organising committee, Michael Bonsor, Andy Pike and Tori Cadogan. We are hugely grateful to them, and to everyone who donated artworks, secured auction lots and opened up their networks to support us.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to everyone at the Chancery Rosewood, who generously hosted the evening, and to Alan Cumming for giving his time and talent as host. Thank you to our friends at Battersea for being such wonderful partners.

Finally, thank you to everyone who bid, in the room and online. Every bid will help bring people and animals together to change one another’s lives.
