PAT visit to Linklaters office raises £11,000
A PAT visit to the office of global law firm Linklaters has raised £11,000 after welcoming PAT Volunteers and their dogs for a special fundraising visit held in memory of Zohra Allana.
The event was organised by Associate Irfan Allana to honour his sister, Zohra, who worked as a mental health pharmacist and was widely known for her compassion, empathy and love of animals. A group of eight Pets As Therapy Volunteers and their PAT Dogs spent time with staff during the visit, creating space for reflection and connection.
Speaking at the event, Zohra’s partner – Shankar Manoharan - described her instinctive kindness and commitment to helping others. He spoke of how she “didn’t just dispense medicine; she dispensed hope”, highlighting her rare ability to listen, comfort and make people feel seen during moments of crisis.
When considering how best to honour her legacy, Zohra’s family looked for a cause that reflected both her professional dedication to mental health and her personal devotion to animal welfare. Pets As Therapy, which brings volunteers and their temperament-assessed pets into hospitals, care homes, schools and community spaces, was seen as the natural choice. PAT Volunteers also regularly visit University Hospital Southampton, where Zohra’s sister works as a consultant anaesthetist.
Irfan Allana said: “Zohra believed deeply in kindness, to people and to animals, and bringing Pets As Therapy into our workplace felt like a way of honouring who she was, not just what she did."
Seeing colleagues come together, and knowing we raised £11,000 in her memory, was incredibly moving.”
The visit reflected Linklaters’ wider commitment to responsible business and social impact. Through its global Social Impact programme, the firm encourages colleagues to support charities and community organisations through staff-led fundraising, volunteering and pro bono activity, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing and causes close to its people.
Alex Beidas, Global Head of Employment & Incentives at Linklaters and Vice Chair of St Mungo’s, the UK homelessness charity, said: “Supporting charities that matter to our team is an important part of our approach to responsible business. This event was particularly meaningful because it was driven by a personal story, and it brought colleagues together to support a cause closely aligned with mental health and wellbeing.”
